The next generation of church planters are rising to the call. In the toughest neighborhoods these churches are coming to find the Lord's miraculous power working throughout their communities. We're starting to see the book of Acts come to life!
Mel Isara is the senior pastor of Hope Chapel Waianae Coast which he planted in April of 2001 as a grand-daughter church of Hope Chapel Kapolei. He first started attending Hope Chapel Kaneohe Bay in 1985. A graphic artist by trade he served by designing church t-shirts. He also served as a church council member from 1991 to 1993. Mel left HCKB as a part of the church planting team with pastor John Honold to start Hope Chapel Kapolei in September of 1993. He served on the with the children's church, hosted a MiniChurch and eventually became a MiniChurch shepherd. He was hired on staff full-time at Hope Chapel Kapolei as the overseer of the small groups and counseling ministries from 1997 to 2001. Since starting Hope Chapel Waianae Coast in 2001, Mel has planted a daughter church, Hope Chapel Nanakuli, in April 2003. Mel has the fire and passion of an apostle of the first century church, much like what you see in the book of Acts.
Guy Kapeliela is the senior pastor of Hope Chapel Olomana which he planted on Easter Sunday 1999 as a daughter church of Hope Chapel Kaneohe Bay. He began his pastoral training in 1994 when Ralph Moore hired him as his secretary. He moved on to become the worship director and singles pastor. God gave him a vision while in Tonga that he would plant a church that would minister to his hometown of Kailua, first to the surrounding communities of Mount Olomana and then throughout the island of Oahu and the State of Hawaii. God has also given him a vision to plant tent churches thoroughout the state. These tent churches are called "Ohana (family) Churches." His goal is to see a multiple of church services every night of the week as the did in the book of Acts.
Ralph Moore is the founding pastor of Hope Chapel in Hermosa Beach, CA and also Hope Chapel Kaneohe Bay, HI, where he is the senior pastor. Beginning with just 12 people in 1971, his ministry now spans over 700 churches in Hawaii, the U.S., Japan, Mongolia, Australia, Pakistan, Europe and other countries. Ralph continues teaching pastors and church leaders the biblical model for spreading the gospel and church planting.
